Churchill and FDR: the soundtrack

August 14, 2012

Churchill and FDR finally got together.

So went part of the British history special that NBC tucked in among its recent Olympics broadcast.

After a considerable effort and comparable time, the two leaders met.

The USA was about to join with England.

To represent a profound truth they shared, and to recognize an even deeper truth, Sir Winston and his staff chose hymns they deemed appropriate to the moment.

According to NBC, there were three:

“O God, Our Help in Ages Past” and “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” and “Onward, Christian Soldiers.”

I’d like us to take a closer look at the messages of those three songs.  See you back here soon for that.

Meanwhile:

What battles are you facing today, and how might having a song like one of these running in the background of your day help you?
