This is The Day, #6 of 7 in a series

July 22, 2012

“This is the day The Lord has made;

let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

—Psalm 118:24

We began this brief series in the present tense: “This is….”

But suddenly it sounds like the past tense: “…has made.”

At a moment of self-disclosure in the Old Testament, God reveals the divine name to be “I am.”  Present tense, in English.

Making a great promise in the New Testament Jesus says, “Because I live, you shall live also.”  Both present and future tenses.

It’s time to come up for air.  We’re in the deep end of the pool, swimming in the past, the present and the future.

Friends in a Motorcycle Ministry remind me regularly that “Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.”

And we have today to let God work in us and through us.

Ready?

    YES! Well, I think so. What will He ask me to do? Can I do it? Maybe another day. And then I think, oh what little faith.
