With Permission: A US Army Chaplain Remembers

May 29, 2012

With his permission, I quote my friend and colleague John Read, who among other things is a Chaplain in the US Army serving in the middle east, and who posted this yesterday as he reviewed his Memorial Day Weekend —

I have remembered today,

those who gave the last full measure of love for our country.

I was privileged and honored to hold them when they breathed their last.

Thankful beyond measure that God would allow me to be there at those times.

May God give a double portion of grace to each of these families,

and may we never forget their sacrifices!
