What Sam Said to Ella

February 12, 2012

I have her permission to tell this story.

Ella is a friend who’s an attorney in the eastern part of our country.

She was getting ready to head out the door on recent weekday morning.  She told her son, “We’ll play more this afternoon.  Mommy has to get dressed for work.”

Sam replied, “No! Daddy goes goes to work.  You go to court.”

Many farmers, teachers, bankers, artists of all sorts, and other “generally not 9-to-5” people have run into that same perception.

How does that saying go?  Something about walking a mile in the other’s person’s…yeah, that’s it.

You and I need to remember that, for the next time we’re ready to think something like what Sam said to Ella.   At least he has being a little kid as his defense.
