Our Puppy Martin: Living Frank’s Prayer, Part Eight.

February 4, 2012

From ages ago:   “O Divine Master”

From a couple of days ago:  She was helping us with Martin.

Martin is our dog.  Sunday, February 5 will be his eighth birthday.  He’ll be eight months old.

We are all three in Obedience Training.

Martin is learning to listen and follow commands.  Patty and I are learning about giving clear guidance.

The second part of The Prayer of St. Francis begins by addressing God as our Divine Master.

That’s an image not every one finds comforting.

I was reminded this week that most of the directions we give Martin are to keep him safe and healthy.

Could it possibly be that the same dynamic is true of our relationship with God?

Is the guidance God gave, and continues to give, really for our safety and health?

Might that help some of us begin to better understand why a traditional way of addressing God is as our Divine Master?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to leave a comment here.  See you back here soon.
