The Wrath of God

Douglas W. Ruffle wrote this, and it was part of Tuesday’s entry in the devotional book Disciplines 2022. It’s stuck with me. See what you think —

We do not talk much about the wrath of God these days. Maybe we should.

Maybe we should inculcate a healthy respect for what God does not with to see in human behavior.

The wrath of God is a biblical concept indicating God’s anger and threat to annihilate anyone or any group who goes against God’s will and purpose or who goes against God’s holiness and love.

A healthy respect for the wrath of God can lead to repentance for our complicity with the chaos and darkness in our world.

The good news is that our God is a God full of grace who wants to restore a relationship with people and rescue us from the trouble we bring upon ourselves.
