When Our Dissatisfaction Encounters Christ Jesus, part 2
An old song says this —
You came knockin’ at my heart’s door
You’re everything I’ve been lookin’ for
No more lookin’ for love in all the wrong places.
— Yup, I ripped those lines out of context.
Because they also speak to another reality, and it’s the same one Pope Francis tweeted about on August 10, 2020 —
We are born with a seed of dissatisfaction in search of fulfillment. Our heart, even without knowing it, thirsts for the encounter with God and seeks it, many times taking the wrong road.
— And we can easily miss the signs along one wrong road after another.
Some of them are even warning signs….
What were some you missed? Take a moment and name them.
And what are some you noticed, but chose to ignore? Take time to name these, too.
I’m not real mechanical, but even I’ve noticed that our vehicles come equipped with rearview mirrors, and for a good reason. That same good reason invites us into a time of review and reflection.
Let’s make space in our lives today for what The 12 Steps call “a searching and fearless moral inventory.”
And I’ll see you back here tomorrow.
