Those of Us Who Insist on Saying “No” — part 2
LET’S REVIEW from 7.18.2020: What about those of us who insist on saying “no” to God’s offer of grace?
W. Paul Jones* writes this of the new translation of the Catholic Sacramentary —
At the key point in the Eucharist, the new translation reads, “This is the chalice of my blood, which will be poured out for you and for many.”
I yearned for the former words, that Christ’s sacrificial act was “for all.”
In one sense, both translations are right, but which is primal: the offer or the reception, the God who says “yes” or those of us who insist on saying “no?”]
— AND TODAY let’s factor in Hebrews 10:4, 9-10, and 12 —
It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
God has done away with those sacrifices
in order to establish his own,
the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Christ offered for all time
a single sacrifice for sins.
— What do you think?
I’d love to hear from you, any of the usual ways.
See you back here tomorrow.
