February 20, 2020

Of the making of many books

there is no end.

Ecclesiastes 12:12

12 Rules for Life

Rule 1. Stand up straight with your shoulders back.

An Antidote to Chaos

Rule 2. Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping.

Published in 2018

Rule 3. Make friends with people who want the best for you.

By Jordan Peterson, from the faculty of Harvard and University of Toronto

Rule 4. Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.

One more to file under “All Truth is God’s Truth”

Rule 5. Do not let your children do anything  that makes you dislike them.

Almost 400 pages

Rule 6. Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world.

Finally made it out of my “Gonna Read This” corral

Rule 7. Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient).

Provocative writer

Rule 8. Tell the truth — or, at least, don’t lie.

Not a typical motivational/self-help/personal development book

Rule 9. Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don’t.

For sure didn’t agree with everything he writes in these almost 400 pages

Rule 10. Be precise in your speech.

But interestingly, he grapples with much of the same biblical material, both Old and New Testaments, the rest of us do

Rule 11. Do not bother children when they are skateboarding.

But he starts at places I might not and doesn’t always land at places I would

Rule 12. Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street.

And I gotta say I love these Rules, don’t you?
