God Moves in Mysterious Ways
Meet me in your Bible where it says “God moves in mysterious ways.”
I’ll wait.
Still waiting.
Let me save you time:it’s not in our Bibles.
The closest our Bibles come to that line about God having “mysterious ways” is Isaiah 55:8-9, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
But this is still such a good line: “God moves in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform.” I’ve heard that tossed around in a lot of contexts…might have even used it myself.
It’s from one of our brothers in Christ named William Cowper, pronounced “Cooper.”
Mr. Cowper himself deserves far more time and space that this format allows. Ask me about him sometime; and I thank Bryan Chapell for pointing me to him.
POP QUIZ:
- Looking back, what’s an example of how God was “mysteriously” at work in your own life?
Take some time with your answer.
If you’re like me, that time will include gratitude.
Lots and lots of gratitude.
