Once We Get Through Christmas
She smiled.
She chuckled.
She burst out laughing.
She was Donna, the office manager of the church with several years’ experience in that position, and she’d just heard something really goofy.
From me.
I was in my first appointment to a church as a pastor, and it was almost the end of Advent. It was almost Christmas.
I was tired. Really, really tired.
“You know what, Donna? Once we get through Christmas, things’ll slow down.”
That’s when she smiled, and chuckled, and laughed.
She said, “Never have before.”
She was right.
I was wrong.
Maybe you’re hanging on by a fingernail lately, and that fingernail’s about to break.
