Fill it Up? — part 3 in a series of opulence
Are you a “drive til the gas pump lights up on my dashboard” kinda person?
Or do you “just go ahead and top it off” when your gas gauge is at 3/4 full?
And when it’s not just your car/SUV/van/truck/RV we’re talking about, how do you know when it’s your soul that’s running on empty?
But if instead you replenish regularly, how do you know when you’re topped off?
And WHAT exactly is this all about, anyway?!
Consider —
May the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace
as you trust in him,
so that you may overflow with hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.
— Romans 15:13, New International Version
— So how are you doing today?
Running on empty, or topping it off?
What this is finally about is exactly what those early people called Methodists loved to ask: “How is it with your soul?”
Today’s a good day for some self-inventory.
And an even better one to check in with someone you trust and see what they think.
Remember what Christ Jesus says in Matthew 7:5, First take that log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the dust particle from another’s eye.
I gotta go look for like a lumberjack or an Arborist (hello, John in Rantoul!) to help me with this.
See you back here tomorrow.
