“A Constant Frightening Battle That is Hell”
Phyllis Godwin is a friend who so often says so much so well…for example, this piece, which I share here with her expressed permission —
I woke up this morning thinking of a friend, and I can’t shake the sadness I feel.
I can imagine it is horrible to be locked up, even for your own safety– to lose the freedom to choose simple things that are your style, to come and go when you feel like it; to be at the mercy of people who are trying to keep order; to being subjected to others’ chaos, screaming, crying; to not be able to communicate with or understand them. That is hell!
But just as horrible is being locked away from your own mind, desperately trying to keep track of things like a tube of toothpaste, how to answer the phone, button a blouse, put on a coat, keeping track of the days, whether it’s day or night. A constant frightening battle to keep sane & in the moment.
Pray for such as these! And be grateful for your life.
— We’re praying with you, Phyllis; may our Lord improve our levels of gratitude for our daily lives.
