Success, at What Age? And at What Age, Success?
Robert English is a colleague, an online friend, and perhaps most importantly, he is son LJ4’s pastor in Cincinnati. It’s with his expressed and gracious permission that I share his words on the surprise retirement of the Indianapolis Colts’ QB, Andrew Luck —
Some commentator said that Andrew Luck retiring early is the ‘most millennial thing ever.’
I completely agree. Millennials (so I’m like an old millennial) have a totally different value set than other generations.
We don’t value ego driven pursuits or material success as much as previous generations.
We value things like family time, bodily health, emotional wellness, and spending our time making a difference in the world.
Retiring from a sport that is beating your body up day in and day out in order to have a rich and whole life with family and your community, yes that is the most millennial thing ever.

Thank you, Pastor, for sharpening some of us today!
