Christ Jesus to the 2nd Century to GC19 to You and Me Today
From Christ Jesus —
“I pray that they may all be one.”
(John 17:21)
From yesterday’s 2nd century song —
“Watch over your church, O Lord,
in mercy,
save it from evil,
guard it still;
perfect it in your love.”
And now it’s our turn —
…uhm…
With our United Methodist
General Conference vote yesterday,
how do you honestly think we’re doing at this?
As for me personally —
I’ll quote my Breakfast Buddy Bishop Grove
(you gotta ask me about that sometime),
who last night wrote,
General Conference 2019 ended today.
In a few days when I am back home
I will share some reflections
with my facebook friends.
But before I do
I want to
breathe and rest and pray.
Until you hear more from me
spend some time with
the promise of Julian of Norwich:
“All will be well
and all will be well
and all things will be well.”
I believe that deep in my soul.
See you back here tomorrow. Meanwhile, let’s do what Bishop Grove says, and also spend some time with our Lord’s prayer for us —
“I pray that they may all be one.”
(John 17:21)
