Who Can Explain This?
Don’t wanna get too far from where we were with yesterday’s song.
The second verse —
’Tis myst’ry all: th’ Immortal dies:
Who can explore His strange design?
In vain the firstborn seraph tries
To sound the depths of love divine.
’Tis mercy all! Let earth adore,
Let angel minds inquire no more.
— You might have heard me say, or maybe read here at some point, that I never pretend to have all the answers.
In fact, I’m still working on formulating some of the questions. Seriously.
This song, this verse, invites you and me to dial down our inquiries and ramp up our gratitude exponentially.
It asks who can explore and who can explain God’s love?
It answers that by pointing us to God’s mercy and grace!
It invites our thankful adoration of the God who so loved the world that he gave His only Son so that, well, if you need a refresher on why, look up John 3:16 & 17.
Mercy; ’tis mercy all!
