First Thing in the Morning

June 5, 2018

Let the morning bring me word

of your unfailing love,

for I have put my trust in you.

Psalm 143:8

Picking up right where we stopped yesterday —

Practice. Daily practice, every morning.

The morning is vital. It’s the foundation from which the day is built.

And that’s why we have to be mindful of how we speak to ourselves when we first wake up.

What we tell ourselves first thing in the morning is a big part of what we hear for the rest of the day. — from “Marc & Angel Hack Life”

— There’s an old line that’s usually told after the first night’s sleep in a new place, on the morning of the first full day of a church trip or event:

“Usually I wake up and say, ‘Good morning, Lord!’ but today I woke up and said, ‘Good Lord…morning?!”

I like Psalm 143:8 better than that old joke, especially in light of what Angel and Marc say.

Try this: for the rest of June, join me in praying this (Psalm 143:8) when you wake up in the morning:

Let the morning bring me word
of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.

Deal?
