I graduated from Emory University. In 1981. It was @ 85% ultra liberal and maybe 15% conservative. More than 1/2 of my classmates were uncertain of going into traditional pastoral/ministry jobs. The “call” to ministry was seldom considered. Candler School of Theology had an open goals: teach what man has said about God and the Bible, and help students build a professional clergy rather than a spiritual faith based pastoral role.
