How Do You Like You Now?

May 24, 2018

“Made like him, like him we rise,” we sing in the song Christ the Lord is Risen Today.

We heard here recently from Athanasius who told us, “He became what we are that we might become what he is.”

Fold those two lines together and let them simmer.

Our relationship with Christ Jesus “turns us into manifestations of the Word, the Logos, as Jesus was,” writes J. Michael Ripski in Disciplines 18, page 155.

Before long you’re going to look in a mirror, or catch a reflection of yourself in a window, or maybe even see a photograph of yourself. When you do, remember that because of your relationship with Christ you — yes, you — are a manifestation “of the Word, the Logos, as Jesus was.”

yes you,

 — who have been “made like him”

to “become what he is”

so that you’re a “manifestation of the Word”

how do you like you now?
