Your Day of Epiphany

January 6, 2018

+the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles, as in Matthew 2:1–12
+a manifestation of a divine or supernatural being
+a moment of sudden revelation or insight

January 6th traditionally marks the end of The Twelve Days of Christmas and the end of the Christmas season.

In many churches, Epiphany celebrates this scene —

On coming to the house,

they saw the child with his mother Mary,

and they bowed down and worshiped him.

Then they opened their treasures

and presented him with gifts of

gold, frankincense and myrrh.

— Matthew 2:11

Pop Quiz:

  1. Were they at the manger?
  2. Was Jesus a baby when they arrived?
  3. How many of them were there?

  1. They were at the house. That’s what The Bible says.
  2. Jesus was the child they saw. That’s what The Bible says.
  3. We have no idea how many of them there were. The Bible says they brought gold, frankincense and myrrh, which is where someone began the notion that there were three of them. But that’s not what The Bible says.

The Big Question:

What epiphany or insight or fresh understanding will you experience today?

I’d love to hear from you in any of the usual ways, and I hope to see you back here tomorrow.
