Burnout, Change, and God

November 2, 2017

Just finished a major battle in our home.

With a light fixture.

I’m not kidding when I talk about my dad’s notorious lack of handyman/home repair skills. Which I, sadly, inherited and have somehow found ways to even expand upon.

It was the first time I’ve dealt with that particular one and its intricate, even arcane, opening and closing mechanism. I was starting to think I’d have to send a cry for help in a video to our nephew who’s in his senior year at Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla.

The problem was that a light bulb had burned out and needed to be changed.

Or maybe the problem was the complex locking mechanism holding the light fixture in place.

However it’s defined, the reality is that there was darkness until the light bulb was changed.

When it comes to the things of God in general, and to God in particular, that problem never happens. Psalm 55:19 says we worship and serve God with whom there is no change.

I’m celebrating the constancy of God today, how about you?
