Or You’ll Hurt Yourself
Patty and I were in the garage, surrounded by mountains of cardboard. The moving van had left the day before. Wanting to make a dent somewhere, anywhere, in the boxes surrounding us, I reached for the closest one.
Not the brightest thing I’ve ever done.
It was too big and too heavy for one person to pick up.
Patty stepped in and after several starts and stops, we’d wrestled it from the garage almost to the dining room.
And just maybe I learned something.
There’s just some stuff that’s too much for one of us to carry alone, and it can’t be put into a cardboard box and taped shut. That stuff’s in our hearts and on our minds.
The New Testament has clear advice —
Give all your worries and cares to God,
for God cares about you.
— 1st Peter 5:7
Let’s remember that today, and let’s do that.
