Number One: Celebrations and Concerns

March 31, 2017

Here in the middle of Lent 2017, it’s my joy to share Ten Reminders for Laypeople…but wow they sure apply to us pastors as well. With gratitude to Linna Bradford who graciously agreed to let me share these with you, here’s number one —

Prayer is not a “spare wheel” that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a “steering wheel” that directs the right path throughout the journey.

— One of the good things we do in worship, in small groups, and simply among friends, is to ask one another about Celebrations and Concerns.

Another good thing we do in worship, in small groups, and simply among friends, is to share with one another our Celebrations and Concerns.

A third good thing we do in worship, in small groups, and simply among friends, is to pray with one another.

Christ’s people have done this since the earliest days of the Church, as Acts 1:14 says: All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together

What can I be celebrating with you about today, and what concern of yours can I include in my prayers today? I’d love to hear from you, any of our usual ways. (In the upper right corner of your Facebook page is where you can send me a private message; I’m on Facebook simply as “Joe Scheets” and I really do welcome the chance to pray with you.)

So now: what are your Celebrations and Concerns today?
