Be Careful on That Ladder
I think every Board of Trustees at any church I’ve served as pastor has warned me about falling off ladders and breaking things.
They’ve realized that I’m not real handy at repair stuff.
I inherited a lot from my dad, and this ability’s absence is one example. (Ask me sometime about the damage to a parsonage garage because I didn’t stop the car in time.) (Or the time I put it in Drive rather than Reverse to back out.) (Same garage.)
This whole ladder thing. Gotta be careful.
And really gotta be careful your ladder is against the right wall.
I’ve seen too many people climb a ladder of success only to realize at the top that there’s nothing on the other side of the wall.
It was all a facade.
This is not for you.
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?” Jesus asks in Luke 14:8.
In other words, be aware.
And the fall from way up high on that ladder of success? Hard to recover from some of those injuries.
