Pray

July 28, 2016

“Whether you like it or not,

read and pray daily.

It is your life.

There is no other way;

else you will be a trifler all of your days.”

— John Wesley

Read and pray.

Okay, Mr. Wesley, I get it.

“Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything,” St. Paul told some friends. (Philippians 4:6)

Okay, St. Paul, I get it.

“When you come before God, don’t turn that into a theatrical production,” Christ said in his Sermon on the Mount.  He went on, “All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat?” (Matthew 6:5)

Okay, Jesus, I think I get it.

Today, let’s you and me follow up on what they all three say.

And I’ll see you back here tomorrow.

  1. Loved it when he called out the Pharisees on their form of prayer. I believe there are many today that qualify and they have the added magnification of TV! Naming names would be judging though. Weren’t the Pharisees also known as ‘Publicans’?

  2. Forgot to add that there was a study on Prayer that I participated in at one of my former churches. Learned to pray throughout the day, in thought, like breathing but no one knowing, as well as keeping to myself with prayer and reading.
