Whether You Like It or Not
As a new work week begins, here’s advice from a friend named John —
“Whether you like it or not, read and pray daily. It is your life. There is no other way; else you will be a trifler all of your days.”
John Wesley, credited with The United Methodist Church, wrote that.
Those first six words set the tone: “Whether you like it or not.”
Most people don’t like paying taxes. But we like paved roads and public libraries.
I don’t like the taste of a cough medicine an allergy doctor recommended. But I like that it stops my cough.
Our dog Martin doesn’t always like being on a leash. But with Patty or Joseph or me at the other end, he’s safe.
“Whether you like it or not.”
Understood, Mr. Wesley.
“Whether you like it or not, read and pray daily. It is your life. There is no other way; else you will be a trifler all of your days.”
Just when I needed it most! On target again, my friend.
