Steady Now, Steady

December 4, 2015

Picking up where we stopped yesterday:

Our friend St. Paul wrote, We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears, and we’ll see it all then, as clearly as God sees us.” (1st Corinthians 13:12)

You know those people in our lives, the ones who annoy us? And even the ones we love? There’s something missing in our perceptions of them.

What can help us see and understand them better? Again, St. Paul: For right now, we have three things to do: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of these three is love. (1st Corinthians 13:13)

Trust steadily in God. Hmmm.

Not now-and-then. Trust steadily in God.

Not when it’s easy to do. Trust steadily in God.

Not just when we’re feeling this way, or that way, or when we’re too numb to feel much of anything at all. Trust steadily in God.

What’s the first thing you’ll do differently today because you trust steadily in God?

Steady now, steady.
