Make Somebody Glad
It made me glad
to hear them say,
“Let’s go to the house
of the Lord!”
— Psalm 122:1
Contemporary English Version
Slight nuance here changes a lot.
Many older translations of this verse run in the direction of “I was glad when they said unto me.” This still-very-new version has us instead simply over hearing others speaking.
Kind of like being in a coffee shop kinda place and noticing that the people at the next table are making plans. There’s that awkward moment when we realize we’re looking at them, waiting for someone’s next line, and oops one of them makes eye contact with us.
Now what — glance away with maybe a quick nod first?
What happens if one of them invites us to go with them?
It made me glad to hear them say,“Let’s go to the house of the Lord!”
What happens if we invite someone to come with us?
We have all week to give it a try; next weekend’s still a long way off.
Make somebody glad…let her or him hear you say, “Let’s go to the house of the Lord!”
