When a Bishop Comes to Visit, part 6
Bishop Jonathan D. Keaton was recently a guest preacher in our church.
He knows how to pace himself.
We have two Services of Divine Worship on Sunday mornings, and he preached at both.
He was as energetic and fresh at the late one as he was at the early one.
He had arrived in town the evening before. His evening was a quiet, sustained time of study and preparation.
Aware that The Christian Life is not a sprint but a marathon, he took a cue from St. Paul who wrote about going the distance. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith,” says 2nd Timothy 4:7.
Bishop Keaton models healthy self care for the rest of us.
If you and I are to say that we went the distance and “finished the race,” what changes might we make this week?
