Greater Confidence for You
“It’s not wrong to have strong emotions,
but when I let them affect my words and actions,
they sometimes get out of control.
I need your Holy Spirit to take charge over my emotions, Lord.
Help me give the control over to you.
As I do that and
check my reactions against your Word,
I know I’ll have greater confidence
to deal with whatever comes my way.”
— 365 Pocket Prayers for Graduates, page 181
The implication for me in that last sentence of this prayer excerpt is that change is a process.
We know we have a problem, we know where to go for help and from Whom, we ask for help in turning over the control.
And yet we’ve only just begun.
As we keep doing that, as we keep circling back to the beginning as life goes along, we find that like an old hymn says of God, “Great is thy faithfulness.”
One of the benefits is that we come to “have greater confidence to deal with whatever comes (our) way,” as this prayer puts it.
I’m praying for that for you today. Please pray for that for me, too.
See you back here soon.
