Strong Emotions and Our Need

September 24, 2013

“It’s not wrong to have strong emotions,

but when I let them affect my words and actions,

they sometimes get out of control.

I need your Holy Spirit to take charge over my emotions, Lord.”

— 365 Pocket Prayers for Graduates, page 181

The first sentence of this excerpt from this prayer is the diagnosis.

The second is the start of the prescription.

This is reminiscent of a Twelve Step Program’s numbers 2 and 7, realizing that a Power greater than ourselves can help us and then asking for that help.

Serious stuff here.

Great! I love it when you use brief, tight sentences to convey important truths…Some of our preacher friends might want to check this theory out. 😉
