Prayer for People Carrying Backpacks and Workbags

This weekend in worship we had our Blessing of the Backpacks and Work Bags.

More about this later, but for today please join me in this prayer from one side of a tag that is now attached to a ton of packs and messenger bags and shoulder bags and such —

God of all knowledge and wisdom,

we pray your blessing on these students,

young and old, as they begin a new year.

Help them to discover

and develop the gifts

you have given them.

As they grow in knowledge,

help them also to grow in kindness and compassion,

learning respect for themselves and others.

Strengthen them with encouragement, support, and love. 

in Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

We have lots to think about what all we just prayed together.  It’s good stuff!
