Done and Undone
“Maybe all one can do is hope to end up with the right regrets,” wrote Arthur Miller.
I think I understand that.
“Forgive us for the things we have said and done,” says a Prayer of Confession, “and for the things we have left unsaid and undone when we should have stepped up and spoken up.”
I’m afraid I understand that, too.
Living in the past is a place that we can control. Even the unholy places can have candles and incense to make it more of a spiritual place, then the dump we were in at the time. When I Give myself to Christ- doesn’t that mean that He shall take care of those past things that need corrected? To often the past is like a dusty, old blanket that covered us and Christ has the power to determine what is worth keeping and what needs cut out. If the truth be known, if we were asked to be a sacrificial lamb- “Are you kidding me, haven’t I been through enough already?”
