We Really Are
I am fearfully and wonderfully made
— Psalm 139:14
First, a classic story:
One Christmas a parent announced that the days of hounding her kids to write Thank You notes were over.
Their grandmother never received one word of gratitude for the generous checks she had given as gifts that year.
Things were different the next year.
“Every single one of my grandchildren came to see me and thank me,” the grandmother told a friend.
“Really?”
“They had to,” the smiling grandma said. “This year I didn’t sign their checks.”
Second, an application of that classic story:
We really are fearfully and wonderfully made.
We’ve been thinking together about this all week here: these bodies we have are amazing. But too often and too easily I can forget that. I can complain about something being wrong and forget what’s right. Maybe you do, too.
It’s time to say Thank You to the One who so wonderfully created us.
Let’s practice being grateful for whatever degree of health it is that we enjoy right now.
We really are fearfully and wonderfully made.
We are wonderfully made and as you gaze out to nature each AM it too is perfectly made. Thank you Father for all that I too often take for granted.
